What This Tool Does

The IP Address Lookup tool shows your public IP address automatically when the page loads, along with geolocation data, ISP, ASN, timezone, and connection type. You can also look up any other IP address by entering it in the field. It is useful for verifying VPN behaviour, debugging geolocation features, identifying which network a server or IP belongs to, and checking what your CI environment appears as from the outside.

How to Use

1. Your own IP address is looked up automatically when the page loads.
2. To look up a different IP, enter it in the field and click Look Up or press Enter.
3. Click My IP at any time to return to your own IP address details.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is my public IP address?
Your public IP is the address your internet service provider assigns to your connection — it is what the outside world sees when you connect to websites or services. It is different from your local/private IP (like 192.168.x.x) which is only visible within your home or office network.
How accurate is the geolocation data?
IP geolocation is generally accurate to the country and region level. City-level accuracy varies — it can be precise, or it may show the location of your ISP's nearest exchange rather than your exact city. It should not be used for precise physical location tracking.
What does the ASN field mean?
ASN stands for Autonomous System Number — a unique identifier assigned to a network (typically an ISP, hosting provider, or large organisation) that controls a block of IP addresses. It is useful for identifying which network an IP belongs to, and for debugging routing and connectivity issues.
Why does a VPN change my apparent location?
When you use a VPN, your traffic exits through the VPN provider's server rather than your own ISP. The IP shown will be the VPN exit node's IP, so the location and ISP shown will reflect the VPN server, not your actual location. The Proxy/VPN field in the results will typically flag this.
Can I look up any IP address?
Yes — enter any public IPv4 or IPv6 address in the input field to look it up. Private/reserved ranges (like 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, or 127.0.0.1) will return limited or no geolocation data since they are not publicly routed.
