The Word Frequency Counter analyses any block of text and ranks each word by how often it appears. Results update as you type, and you can sort by frequency or alphabetically. The optional stop word filter hides common English filler words so the results focus on the terms that actually carry meaning in your content.
1. Paste any text into the input box, or click Sample to try an example.
2. Results appear instantly, sorted by frequency.
3. Toggle Filter stop words to hide common words like "the", "and", "is".
4. Switch to Alphabetical sort to find a specific word quickly.
5. Click Download CSV to export the full frequency table.
What counts as a word?
Any sequence of letters and numbers separated by whitespace or punctuation. Contractions like "don't" are treated as one word. Numbers are included by default.
What are stop words?
Stop words are common English words that carry little meaning on their own — things like "the", "and", "is", "in". Enabling the filter hides them so you can focus on meaningful content words.
Is the comparison case-sensitive?
No. The tool normalises all text to lowercase before counting, so "The", "the", and "THE" all count as the same word.
Can I export the results?
Yes — click Download CSV to save the full frequency table as a CSV file you can open in Excel or Google Sheets.
Is my text sent to a server?
No. All processing happens in your browser. Your text never leaves your device.
